Western Hemisphere Information Exchange (WHIX) Program
In 2003 the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations & Environment (OASA (I&E)) initiated a four-year project to develop the Western Hemisphere Information Exchange (WHIX), a comprehensive Program whose goal is to facilitate the implementation of Information exchanges between the U.S. and other Western Hemisphere militaries. The WHIX Program will encompass existing and emerging technologies and will promote the efficient management of military installations; environment, safety and occupational health; and the use of renewable energy and other clean energy resources.
The overall intent is to share knowledge and exchange best practices promoting cooperation and collaboration for the common purpose of addressing infrastructure, environment, and energy requirements associated with military installations and military missions in the Western Hemisphere.
